Hi everyone!
It’s been a while since I’ve personally reached out to y’all, and I wanted to take the time to do so in this most recent newsletter.
These last three months with AFK have been amazing, and it’s been a lot of fun sharing the most interesting pieces of console gaming news and having conversations with you about them.
I’ve always wanted to be part of a community that was more focused on console gaming, and it’s been fun to finally get that. And to have a community as engaged as y’all has been wonderful.
I really can’t wait to continue the journey, and I’m so excited to show y’all some of the things I have planned.
But admittedly, it’s taken a little longer than I was hoping for, and a lot of it has to do with work. I’ve been juggling responsibilities with a new role while handling my current responsibilities with AFK and a side gig (gotta make that money).
Frankly, I need a breather.
So, I’ll be taking today to rest and recharge (in a sense). But this rest day will also be used to help prepare for the upcoming release of the PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and the games and accessories included with it.
But before I sign-off, I did want to wrap up my “Buyer’s Question” series with this:
What Console Should You Get?
After next week, we’ll be fully immersed in the next-generation.
Our PS4s and Xbox Ones will suddenly be collecting dust in our closets or will be traded in at Game Stop.
Regardless of what console you get, you’ll be playing on two of the most powerful consoles ever created. Console gaming really hasn’t seen anything like this, and it’s a really great time to be a gamer.
But, if you’re confused about what console to get, even after reading up on the series, here’s my advice:
You get the Xbox Series X for what it can give you in the future.
You get the PS5 for what it will give you right now.
I recognize I’ve said this a lot, but I really do believe this is the case.
The Xbox Series X has a ton of potential, especially over the next year or so, but the current games available aren’t that stellar. At the end of the day, games sell consoles. But if you’re one of those people that can wait and can live off third-party games and older titles available through game pass, the Xbox Series consoles will have a great return on investment.
And by the way, it’s important I highlight the importance of Game Pass. If you have the money, I really recommend you getting it. It’s worth it.
The PS5’s potential, although still high, isn’t as great when compared to the Series X. Why? Because Sony hasn’t landed a major studio acquisition in a while. Because Sony doesn’t have a revolutionary gaming streaming service. Because Sony is only backwards compatible with PS4 games. But with that said, there are still some awesome games immediately available for you, and some game-changing titles just over the horizon. If you love what the PlayStation offers you now, and you’re looking for a boost of performance to pair with that, then the PS5 is the answer for you.
Oh, and the DualSense controller might be the best new thing about this console. Seriously. Every outlet I’ve seen covering the PS5 highlights the controller over the console. If that’s not a statement, I’m not sure what is.
Anyway, that’s all I got!
For my U.S. readers, I really hope we get some clarity on our election process soon. It’s been stressful.
And for my U.K. readers, I hope you’ve been staying safe during lockdown. Make sure to reach out to people and connect online. It definitely helps make the experience easier.
Have a good weekend!
